Research

My research focus is on the effectiveness of behavioural and pharmacological treatments for smoking cessation, with special focus on smokers with mental illness. Furthermore, I am interested in studying the psychosocial determinants of the relation between smoking and mental illness. My current research themes are:
  • Smoking in depression and/or anxiety: comorbidity and determinants (NESDA data)
  • Smoking cessation interventions for smokers with depression. Meta analysis and systematic review.
  • Depressive symptoms and smoking cessation (ITC data).
  • Psychosocial determinants study within the mood management trial.
