Netherlands Network of Tobacco Control Researchers

The Netherlands Network of Tobacco Control Researchers (NNvT) was established in 2013 to offer a platform for scientific nicotine and tobacco research in the Netherlands. The network consists of researchers from multiple disciplines, including (pre-)clinical research, pharmacology of nicotine addiction, epidemiological studies, and tobacco policy studies.

The NNvT organises an annual one-day conference on nicotine and tobacco research. A committee of professors and senior researchers in the Netherlands is responsible for the organization and the selection of abstracts for the conference. The official language of the conference is Dutch. On April 12, 2024, the tenth Netherlands Network of Tobacco Control Researchers conference took place in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

All researchers in the field of nicotine and tobacco research in the Netherlands are welcome to present the latest scientific results of their research at the conference. Policy maker and tobacco control specialists are invited to participate, share their expertise and experience, and learn about the latest findings in tobacco control research in the Netherlands. To support new researchers, the National Tobacco Control Research prize is awarded annually to promising young researchers in the field of tobacco control research.

The conference is funded by ZonMw (The Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development) and ‘Gezondheidsfondsen voor Rookvrij’ and is organised in cooperation with the Trimbos Institute.
